Preload by Agence Web Performance

A new issue every Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. Paris time

What changed on the web, loaded first.

The newsletter for the people who make the web. Standards, browsers, languages, frameworks and CMS: the week's news that matters for your sites, each item with its primary source and the concrete step to take.

Five minutes on Tuesday, not a minute more.

Eroan sorts the week for you. Anything that does not change your work stays out.

10 to 15 items, sorted by section

Web platform, performance, CMS, languages and frameworks, AI and dev tools. The three that matter most are summed up at the top, one line each.

Always the primary source

Official announcements, release notes, specifications. Never another newsletter, never a rumour, always in our own words.

The step to take

Each item ends with what you actually do: an attribute to add, an upgrade to plan, a setting to check.

One item, as you will read it

Always the same layout, so you can read fast and act right away.

  1. The fact, in the title.
  2. What changes, for whom and from when, in two or three sentences.
  3. Browser support: Baseline, partial or experimental.
  4. The step: what you actually do.
  5. The primary source, and our take when we really have one.
Sample item, Web platform section

Web platform

Safari 27 ships sizes="auto"

With Chrome 126+ and Firefox 150+, the attribute now works everywhere for lazy-loaded images: the browser picks from the srcset based on the width actually rendered.

Baseline, newly available

Next step

On your loading="lazy" images, write sizes="auto, 100vw" (the value after the comma is for older browsers) and keep width and height. Never on the LCP image, which must not be deferred.

Our take: a real win on templates with variable-width columns.

Read the source

Eroan Boyer

Founder of Agence Web Performance, Opquast Expert certified consultant

Eroan has been building websites since 2001 and working independently since 2008. Since 2019, web performance has been the core of his work: he audits and optimises WordPress, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Shopify and Drupal sites, bringing TTFB, LCP, CLS and INP down with before and after measurements.

The job means keeping a daily watch, especially on new browser APIs. Each week, Eroan turns it into Preload: picking the topics, checking them against the source and writing every item, with what to do about it.

Frequently asked questions

Another question? Just reply to any issue: your reply goes straight to Eroan.

How often does Preload arrive?

Once a week, on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Paris time. An issue holds 10 to 15 items, about a five-minute read. A section with nothing new is skipped. Eroan picks the topics and writes every issue.

What is in an issue?

A short word from Eroan, the three items not to miss, then Web platform, Performance, CMS, Languages and frameworks, AI and dev tools, and Finds. The Security section only appears when there is an update to apply, and From the agency only when the agency has real news.

Who is Preload for?

Front-end and back-end developers, integrators, lead devs and freelancers, from intermediate to expert. The basics are not explained again: each item goes straight to what changes for your sites.

Is it free?

Yes, and there are no sponsors. The agency keeps it to a discreet link to its performance audit at the bottom of the email.

How do I unsubscribe?

Every issue has an unsubscribe link in its footer: one click is enough.

What do you do with my email address?

It is only used to send you Preload. Sign-up is double opt-in: nothing is sent until you confirm through the link you receive. Emails go out through Brevo, our only email provider, and your address is never sold or shared.

Which language is Preload in?

English or French, your choice: subscribe from this page for the English edition, or from the French page for the French one. The English edition is an adaptation, not a word-for-word translation.

How is Preload different from other newsletters?

Every item links to its primary source (official announcement, release notes, specification), never to another newsletter, and Eroan writes every word of it, without copying the source. Above all, each one ends with the concrete step to take on your sites.
